Nope - just head down making a full day of it out of Hobart, or stay down in the Huon Valley - we have just heard of a new property in Tasmania's Far South called The Buttongrass Retreat alongside the Ida Bay Railway near Cockle Creek, where you will experience total solitude, be able to stare skywards for a complete galaxy played back to you. Suggesting that as well as a stay in Hobart exploring down, you consider staying down south and explore UP! Heaps to see and do even at that time of year where you have many crisp blue sky days. You should read this blog item: Hastings Caves an easy drive from Hobart, and it seems you should call by this information, to complete your research. Hope you enjoy planning the rest of your time here. Cheers.

Time from Hobart is just a tad over 2 hours. so it is an early rise, breakfast - and leave town by 7.45am to ensure getting down there.

I am wondering, is it only one tour per day which is 10am during Jan? How long would take to drive from Hobart to Hasting Cave? Please advise around what time should arrive?

Ticket prices are $24 for adults, $19.20 for concessions and $12 for children. The price for children is from 5 to 17 years with no age restriction on entry. Children (babies)unable to walk need to be carried as prams can not be accommodated because of the numerous stairs.

We are interested in going to Hastings Caves.
Are we able to go into the caves without booking into a tour?
If so, how much does it cost?
How much does it cost to go to the thermal springs?
With thanks, Michelle
