Gardener of the Year: Are you going to enter?

If you're a proud owner of an expansive veggie patch or think your flower beds are worth showing off, why not consider entering in the Gardener of the Year competition?

After all, winning the title of Gardener of Year could take you to the glorious nature state itself, Tasmania!

The competition, run by ABC Gardening Australia magazine, is in for a shake up this year with new prizes and categories.

The titles of Gardener of the Year and Young Gardener of the Year are up for grabs in 2013, with entries now open!

All you need to do is tell Gardening Australia in 300 words or less about you and your passion for gardening.

Send in a completed entry form, a sketch of your garden's layout and recent photographs of the whole garden (prints, disk or email). Also make sure to attach one or two 'before' shots to demonstrate how your garden has grown.

The winner of 2013's Gardener of the Year title will board a plane to enjoy the magnificent sights, sounds and tastes of Tasmania, in a fantastic four-night, five-day trip for two!

Fly into Tasmania to enjoy a wonderful gardening journey to a number of brilliant attractions including the Tasmanian Arboretum, Bridestowe Lavender Farm, Wychwood Garden & Nursery, Woolmers & National Rose Garden, and the Heritage Rhododendron Gardens at Lalla.

The Young Gardener of the Year recipient will take a trip round to some of the island's most noted garden sites including the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Garden, the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site, Crawleighwood Garden, Brickendon Estate, Clarendon Estate and Inverawe Native Gardens.

Email your entry to with 'Gardener of the Year competition, ABC Gardening Australia magazine' as the subject, with your answer, name, address, telephone number and email on the official entry form.

You can also mail your entries to Gardener of the Year competition, ABC Gardening Australia magazine, Locked Bag 5030, Alexandria, NSW 2015. Including all your key details mentioned above on your entry form.

If you'd like your entry returned, include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

Entries close on September 9 2013, and will be judged on September 16 2013 – Good luck to all gardening enthusiasts!
