Grammy award winning musician, rapper, television and film actor, and cooking show host Coolio has announced his return to Australia this June – giving Tasmanians a chance to check out a hip hop pioneer in the flesh.
After his 1995 track 'Gangsta's Paradise' hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, it went on to top the charts globally – sweeping over the United States, Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Australia, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.
The album was certified platinum twice and the rapper went on to release four more albums across the next decade. Throughout this period, Coolio made various forays into television and film.
He featured in small cameo roles in television shows like Charmed and The Nanny, as well as recording the theme song for the Nickelodeon hit series Kenan and Kel.
Coolio went on to host his own internet cooking show in 2008, aptly named Cookin' With Coolio. He also released a cook book in 2009, which was widely received with critical acclaim.
Don't miss your chance to see a rap legend when he comes down under. He's playing the Republic Bar in Hobart on Wednesday June 26, 2013.
