Are you Tasmanian, under the age of 30, with a knack for knocking out a good painting? If the answer is yes to any or all of these questions then you might like to enter this year’s leading art competition for the island state’s burgeoning artists.
The 2012 RACT Insurance Tasmanian Youth Portraiture Prize Exhibition is encouraging up-and-coming artists to paint a portrait of a living Tasmanian who is important to you.
Finalists will have their work exhibited from September 7 to 23 at Long Gallery – which is located in the Salamanca Arts Centre, Hobart.
Along with fostering the talent and artistic vision of the state’s young people, the competition is also a great chance to show off your skill with a paintbrush to a wider audience and real critics.
It is also an opportunity for the community to take a closer look at some of the best works by young Tasmanians – as well as network with the next generation of celebrity artists.
Presented by RACT Insurance, Clemenger Tasmania, Geon and Tasmanian Regional Arts, the award helps to bridge the divide between the business and cultural community that thrive alongside one another in Hobart, but may not always interact with one another.
