Hobart Ice skating rink in time for Christmas

Shared by |tags, , ,

Hobart is set to get its own ice skating rink in December – just in time for Christmas celebrations!

The synthetic ice skating rink, Mawson's Skate, will be located on Hobart's waterfront and open three days before Christmas on December 22.

The rink will operate seven days a week at Mawson Place, all year round – so you can enjoy ice skating even after the festive season is done!

The skating surface will take up 415 square metres of space with the rink to also include public seating, surface lighting, architecturally designed walls and an onsite food outlet.

Tourism entrepreneur Richard Crawford told The Mercury that it was exciting to see his idea taking shape, with Kate Whitehouse appointed as manager and serving as the 'face of the new business'.

Stacey Joseph told The Mercury that she was looking forward to taking her children to the ice skating rink.

"I think it's going to be a great family activity. My son is already getting excited about skating on ice," she said, reported via The Mercury on August 10.

If you're feeling hungry after a long day of ice skating, you can visit Fish Frenzy, only a short walk away from the rink.

The menu is bursting with seafood delights, with the pier platter for two particularly appetising with smoked salmon, oysters, prawns, fish, calamari, mussels, octopus and scallops!
