'One man's trash is another man's treasure', so they saying goes, but you can see this expression come to life at Tasmania's Art From Trash exhibition this June!
You'll witness creative displays and artwork created using discarded materials and objects at the annual community art exhibition, which will be held at Long Gallery in the Salamanca Arts Centre, Hobart, from June 21 to July 1, 2013.
Make sure to come on down to the exhibition opening on the evening of the Winter Solstice (June 21) from 18:00 to 21:00.
2013 award categories include People's Choice, Wearable Art, Trash Rat Youth (for entrants aged 15 to 25), Transforming Trash Together (for school and community groups) and Early Years Foundation (group entries for children up to six years).
Don't forget to also check out Rektango during your visit to the Salamanca Arts Centre, held at The Courtyard on Fridays, with free live music from 17:30 to 19:30.
Rektango has become a "Hobart Institution" with the regular event providing soul, blues, reggae funk and rock for 13 years.
